Choose the start position that is the right fit for your predicted fitness level.
For slower runners, joggers or walkers, it is important to be in the correct starting spot. Seed yourself among the starting group as the race will be a mass start.
Your time will not be affected in any way as the timing chip will only record your time from when you cross the start mats to the finish line mats. This will allow you to enjoy the event at your own pace and provide you with the best possible end result.
Course Details
The Yeppoon Running Festival Half Marathon is a spectacular coastal run that showcases the stunning beauty of the Capricorn Coast. Starting on Anzac Parade, with the ocean sparkling beside you, this course is as invigorating as it is scenic.
Your first lap mirrors the marathon route, beginning with a loop past the vibrant Yeppoon Lagoon, followed by a crossing over the serene Fig Tree Creek, surrounded by lush mangroves. From there, the course leads you onto Appleton Drive, across Ross Creek and the Scenic Highway, offering breathtaking coastal vistas.
A left turn takes you onto Matthew Flinders Drive, where you’ll ascend to the iconic Wreck Point Lookout. Here, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the coastline and the famous “Sinking Ship” rock formation. Descending back to the Scenic Highway, you’ll run alongside the golden sands of Lammermoor Beach, soaking in the sound of rolling waves.
The first lap’s turnaround is at Statue Bay, a picturesque spot with views back over Yeppoon and the bay before returning to Anzac Parade to begin your second lap.
The second lap is a shorter loop, taking you back along the Scenic Highway to Matthew Flinders Drive, with the turnaround point just beyond the ascent. As you head back into town, the coastal scenery continues to inspire, energising you for the final stretch.
The race concludes at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club, where a festive recovery area and the joy of crossing the finish line await.
Whether you’re chasing a new personal best or savouring the natural beauty of Yeppoon, the half marathon offers a perfectly balanced challenge with unforgettable views at every turn.
