Choose the start position that is the right fit for your predicted fitness level.
For slower runners, joggers or walkers, it is important to be in the correct starting spot. Seed yourself among the starting group as the race will be a mass start.
Your time will not be affected in any way as the timing chip will only record your time from when you cross the start mats to the finish line mats. This will allow you to enjoy the event at your own pace and provide you with the best possible end result.
Course Details
The YRF Bendigo Bank Yeppoon and Emu Park Marathon is a breathtaking journey that showcases the natural beauty and coastal charm of Yeppoon. Starting on Anzac Parade, with the glistening ocean as your backdrop, you’ll set off on an unforgettable adventure.
The course begins with a loop past the iconic Yeppoon Lagoon, a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike. As you stride onward, you’ll cross the serene Fig Tree Creek, where lush mangroves add a unique touch to your coastal run. From there, the route takes you onto Appleton Drive, soon after, you’ll cross the peaceful Ross Creek, a charming waterway that adds to the route’s natural beauty. From here you are onto the Scenic Highway, where the sea breeze keeps your spirits high.
Veering left onto Matthew Flinders Drive, you’ll ascend to the stunning Wreck Point Lookout, where panoramic views of the coastline and the famed “Sinking Ship” awaits. Take a moment to breathe it all in before descending back onto the Scenic Highway.
You will soon find yourself running alongside the pristine sands of Lammermoor Beach, with the soothing sound of waves as your companion.
The loop reaches its halfway point at Statue Bay, a breathtaking turnaround spot with unparalleled views back over the bay and the Yeppoon township.
As you reverse the course and return to Anzac Parade, you’ll complete two more loops, each offering fresh perspectives on this scenic wonderland. The finish line awaits at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club, where a lively recovery area and celebratory atmosphere reward your incredible effort.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply soaking up the beauty of Yeppoon, this marathon promises a course as exhilarating as it is memorable.
