Wildlife Rehabilitation HQ Inc. Announced as Official Charity Partner of the Yeppoon Running Festival
Koala

Yeppoon, QLD โ€“ Wildlife Rehabilitation HQ Inc. (WRHQI), the official wildlife charity of Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, is proud to join the Yeppoon Running Festival as its official charity partner. This collaboration aims to shine a spotlight on wildlife conservation and the vital work being done to protect Central Queenslandโ€™s native fauna.

About Wildlife Rehabilitation HQ Inc.

WRHQI is a registered not-for-profit wildlife charity that has been operating since 1973. Located onsite at Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, the organisation runs a dedicated wildlife hospital that cares for more than 150 sick, injured, and orphaned animals annually. Through expert care, these animals are rehabilitated and returned to the wild, ensuring the preservation of biodiversity in Central Queensland.

As a fully registered charity under the Queensland Government and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), WRHQI ensures that 100% of proceeds directly benefit rescued wildlife. The funds are used to provide treatment, food, and housing for the animals, supporting their journey back to nature.

A Partnership for Conservation and Community

This partnership with the Yeppoon Running Festival highlights WRHQIโ€™s commitment to engaging with the community and promoting wildlife conservation. Festival attendees can look forward to meeting some of WRHQIโ€™s ambassadors, including snakes, lizards, and even a crocodile, with photo opportunities available. These experiences aim to foster awareness and appreciation for Australiaโ€™s unique wildlife.

How Does This Partnership Support Conservation?

โ€œWRHQI takes care of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife which is rehabilitated and released back to the wild from across Central Queensland,โ€ said Kieron, a spokesperson for Wildlife Rehabilitation HQ Inc. โ€œThis partnership allows us to continue our vital work while educating the community about the importance of protecting our native animals.โ€

What Specific Initiatives Will the Festival Support?

โ€œ100% of all donations and proceeds go to the rescued wildlife,โ€ the spokesperson continued. โ€œThese funds are used for treatment, food, and housing for all the wildlife from Central Queensland that we rehabilitate and release back to the wild each year.โ€

Family Fun Run: Bringing Community and Charity Together

All proceeds from the Family Fun Run at the Yeppoon Running Festival will go directly to WRHQIโ€™s wildlife rescue efforts. This special event not only raises crucial funds for the organisation but also fosters a sense of unity between the community and the charity, highlighting the importance of collective action in wildlife conservation. In addition to the Family Fun Run proceeds, all participants that register for any event at the Yeppoon Running Festival get the opportunity to contribute and support WRHQI via a donation.

Why Wildlife Matters to Runners

The Yeppoon Running Festival recognises the intrinsic connection between a thriving natural environment and the well-being of individuals. โ€œCaring for our wildlife complements the lives of runners by nurturing the beautiful landscapes we run through,โ€ said Nadine, a festival spokesperson. โ€œThis partnership underscores our shared commitment to preserving the natural world that inspires and sustains us.โ€
