Keppel Bay Sailing Club Named Official Host Partner for Yeppoon Running Festival

Yeppoon, QLD โ€“ The Yeppoon Running Festival (YRF) is proud to announce Keppel Bay Sailing Club (KBSC) as its Official Host Partner, marking a new chapter for this premier event on the Capricorn Coast. With a rich history dating back to 1957, KBSC has been a cornerstone of the Yeppoon community, fostering a thriving sailing culture while actively supporting local initiatives and sporting events.

โ€œKeppel Bay Sailing Club began with a group of passionate and dedicated sailors and volunteers who wanted to evolve sailing for the Yeppoon community,โ€ said Mal Cochrane, General Manager of KBSC. โ€œIn 1961, founding members were offered an old skate rink and dance hall to develop into a permanent Clubhouse, and today, that very site is home to our new KBSC Clubhouse facility on Yeppoon Main Beach.โ€

Now operating from multiple venues, including The Clubhouse, The Spinnaker, Krackers Bar and Grill, Club Emu Park, and a sailing village at Causeway Lake, KBSC has grown into a community hub that supports local employment, traineeships, sponsorships, and sporting development.

The newly completed KBSC Clubhouse, a dedicated function and event space, will serve as the festivalโ€™s home base, providing a vibrant hub for athletes, spectators, and the wider community. The partnership is a natural alignment, given KBSCโ€™s longstanding commitment to increasing sports participation and supporting community-driven events through its Community Benefit Fund (CBF).

โ€œBecoming the Official Host Partner of the Yeppoon Running Festival was an easy decision for us,โ€ said Cochrane. โ€œOur mission has always been to support initiatives that bring people together through sport, and weโ€™re excited to provide a world-class venue for this growing event.โ€

โ€œWith the Yeppoon Running Festival continuing to expand, we believe this collaboration will enhance the overall experience for participants and spectators alike,โ€ he added. โ€œThe KBSC Clubhouse offers a fantastic location with everything needed to create a vibrant atmosphere, from great food and beverages to comfortable viewing areas.โ€

Bib and merchandise collection will be held at KBSC on Friday and Saturday, as well as race presentations. Additionally, some exciting prizes will be announced for the biggest team, so keep an eye out for upcoming announcements.

With multiple hospitality venues across the Capricorn Coast, including The Clubhouse, The Spinnaker, Krackers Bar and Grill, and Club Emu Park, KBSC offers a standout experience for visitors. โ€œKBSC is really a community hub for the Capricorn Coast,โ€ said Cochrane. โ€œWith four hospitality venues, two highly regarded bowls venues, and an award-winning sailing club with a new beachfront facility โ€“ we have something for everyone!โ€

The bar and restaurant provide the perfect setting for a meal when collecting bibs, carb-loading before the race, enjoying a post-race meal and drinks, and celebrating at the after-party. KBSC is essentially the festivalโ€™s finish line.

โ€œHosting elements of the festival at the KBSC Clubhouse ensures participants and spectators have access to premium facilities, including elevated viewing areas, a variety of food and beverage options, and ample space for the essential behind-the-scenes operations that make a successful event possible,โ€ Cochrane added.

Beyond the festival, KBSC actively supports a wide range of local sporting and community initiatives, including Sailability Capricornia, Capricorn Blokarts, and major regional events such as Yeppoon Lions Pinefest and the Great Australia Day Beach Party. โ€œWe are a community club committed to ongoing support of the local community,โ€ said Cochrane. โ€œSupporting sports participation and local events is one of our key objectives.โ€

โ€œWe are looking forward to welcoming everyone to KBSC for the festival,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s going to be an incredible weekend, and weโ€™re thrilled to play a key role in making it a success.โ€

With KBSC members and employees expected to lace up their running shoes and join the action, the partnership is set to bring the community together in a celebration of fitness, camaraderie, and local spirit.
